TheCart browser extension

Last updated 15 September 2026

What it does

The extension adds a Save button to product pages so you can save an item to your TheCart account from your computer, the same way you already can on your phone.

What it can access

The extension asks for access to a specific list of shopping sites it supports, plus the page you are currently on at the moment you use it. It does not ask for access to every site you visit.

If you want to save from a shop that is not on that list, the extension will ask you for permission for that site at the time, and you can say no. Access is never granted quietly in the background.

What it reads

On a supported page, the extension checks whether the page is a product page, so it knows whether to show the Save button at all.

When you click Save, it reads that product's name, price, brand, image and web address, and sends them to TheCart so the item appears in your cart.

It does not read anything else on the page. It never reads forms, passwords, card details or checkout pages.

What it stores on your device

Removing the extension from your browser stops it working immediately and clears what it stored. If you want the link to your account revoked at our end as well, email hello@thecart.online and we will do it.

What we do not do

How TheCart makes money

If you later tap Buy Now on a saved item inside the TheCart app, we may earn a commission from that retailer. That happens on your deliberate click inside our own app. It never happens silently on a shop's website through this extension.

Your data, your call

You can delete any saved item at any time in the app. You can delete your account from your profile, and everything goes with it.
